Mommy's Little Gloworm

The day we left the hospital little Drew's bilirubin level was running a little high. We ended up having to stay a little longer so they could run another draw. It continued to get higher so the pediatrician wanted us to check in with his doctor on Monday to check his levels again.

By Monday we noticed that his eyes were starting to turn a little yellow as was his skin. Hannah liked to call him "orange". On Monday we made the journey to Dr. Shori's office to get him checked out. His levels had jumped to almost 16 up from 10. The doctor decided to put him on a photo therapy blanket treatment to bring his levels down.

Home health brought his blanket to us on Monday. Hannah thought it was pretty neat for her brother to "glow". Every morning this week a nurse has come by to draw blood from his little heel. He is running out of places to poke!

He is doing well with his weight so that is a good sign. Today he was back up to birth weight and his levels have dropped to 12! If it drops tomorrow we will probably be able to stop the treatment.

Looks like we are nearing the end of his gloworm days. He sleeps snug as a bug in a rug with his light on. Doesn't he look so sweet?

PS Daddy is on his "Lost" date at a friends. He will have to post the pics later!

He`s looking good. Can`t wait to see him again. Everyone thought his picture in the Stroud American was so clear skinned for a newborn.
