Guess Who's a Big Girl?
Ah, this cold, rainy, wet weekend... What to do? What to
do? What a better time to move Hannah into her big girl bed! Her bedding came
in Friday evening. She was so excited when I opened it. She just laid down on
the comforter on the floor and pretended to go to sleep on her
"bed". I really think she thought that was going to be her bed!
When Ricky said it was time for bed that evening, she headed straight for the
floor.
Saturday night Daddy and Hannah started the hard work: take
down the crib and moving it to her brother's room and moving the big bed to her
room. She was so excited about helping Daddy take down the bed. She even made
sure he put her frame in the right way. She just kept saying, Bed, bed!
We dressed her bed up with her new comforter. I was really
worried that we couldn't find anything to match the blue on her walls. I know
the Daddy didn't want to paint again. Luckily Walmart.com has just what we
were looking for. I think it has just the perfect amount of blue and a mix of
pinks, purples, and yellows along with a few flowers which she loves. And even
better: no painting!
Hannah didn't want to get off of it long enough for us
to put it on. She learned how to climb up all by herself. The whole night she
kept going into her room and saying, "Light on!" and then she would
climbed on her bed and play.
I wasn't quite sure how she would be at bedtime though. I
was expecting a struggle, but she marched straight into her room and got her
Doras and blankets and went right to sleep! The next morning when Ricky went
in to get her, she was sitting straight up in her bed just talking away!
She loves her new room. On Sunday she played all day on her
bed with all of her toys. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that she
CONTINUES to like her bed especially after the baby gets here.
She is officially not a baby anymore! Well, except for the
diaper thing, but one milestone at a time...We will save that for another rainy
day!
Our 'No Way', aDORAble Merry Christmas is Over...Ah, man
Well it's official! Our two week much needed and much
deserved vacation is OVER. Hannah was especially excited to start back to
school. She was very happy to wake up early and eat her cinnamon roll. When we
pulled into Auntie Chris's drive she started saying, "Noah, Noah,
Noah...". When we went inside her and Noah ran around each other saying,
Hi Noah! Hi Hannah! Hi Noah! Hi Hannah! I wish I could say that I was that
excited to go back to work...
We enjoyed a nice visit back with the families in OK. Santa came to FW on the
23rd. Hannah was a little under the weather, but was very excited to get her
DORA backpack and blanket. The Daddy did very well and got me 2 different sets
of the Willow Tree nativity set: The main set and the "stable". Santa
wanted to bring Hannah her big girl bed, but since he wasn't sure what the new
baby was he didn't know where to put her big girl bed. We now have her bedding
on order and it should be here shortly.
We headed back to OK on Christmas Eve day in time for Mass with Granny and
Papa. Hannah even got to put baby Jesus in the manager since she was the
youngest one there. She did such a good job and didn't even squeal when I made
her lay the baby down.
Christmas Day we celebrated with Grandpa and Lola at Uncle Hank's & Aunt Lizzy's
house. Hannah was super spoiled complete with a huge Dora doll, a Dora pillow
made by Lola, finger sized Dora, Boots, and Swiper, and Dora coloring books.
She was so excited! She didn't want to put any of it down. She gradually got
the hang of unwrapping the presents and was happy to help everyone. Baby boy
even got his first little Christmas ornament and I got one with a little bear
that was pregnant. It was exactly what I had wanted!
On Wednesday Hannah finally got to meet the rest of the Davis family. Uncle
Nate and the North Carolina clan made it home for the holidays. The kids spent
the day on the go-kart and trampoline. Later that night we had a firework
display put on by the older kids. Hannah had fun with the sparklers, but wasn't
too excited about the LOUD ones. She would duck for cover as soon as they
started and then squint her eyes up real tight! It was a hoot.
The rest of the week we spent visiting with both families. Hannah had a great
time playing with all of the cousins. She tried very hard to keep up with them
running here and there chasing after them. Her new favorite saying of the week
was: NO way! She was quite entertaining.
We opened presents at Granny and Papa's on Saturday morning. Hannah was stoked.
Aunt Sarah and the kids got her a DORA van complete with Dora and her mommy. It
sings, honks, and talks! What more could you ask for? Granny and Papa got her
this cool zebra thing that she LOVES to sit on in front of the TV and bounce up
and down.
Ricky and I got this Christmas lawn ornament in the shape of an airplane. It
was so big that we had to leave it in Stroud to pick it up next time. Mom made
me a quilt out of the material from my bridesmaids' dresses. It is really
pretty. Ricky doesn't want to use it b/c he thinks we will mess it up. I put it
on anyway and just told him to be careful!
By Sunday the weather had dipped back down in the 30's so we decided to stay
one more day so the daddy could play one more round of golf. We headed home on
New Year's Day. It was a great visit, but it was great to get home.
Thanks to everyone for making it special! Now next year we will be heading
north with 2 little ones. I guess the Daddy will have to leave his clubs at
home or get a bigger car. I don't even want to think about it... or better yet
he can always ride on top. That way everyone wins!
